And the Oscar for the worst fake crybaby in a daytime TV drama goes to? Montel Williams. (PLEASE APPLAUSE)
Williams, former talk show host and military veteran, suffered a Tammy-Faye-Bakker-like melt down as a guest on TV’s Great Day Washington. The two female hosts at times looked terrified as Williams began crying and pointing his finger at them.
The hosts called him brave for his rant. But veterans would differ.
Montel broke down during an emotional defense of NFL players’ rights to take a knee as a sign of free speech.
Montel said the players were simply on their knees praying that the “country wakes up.”
Yeah. Ok.
But while defending NFL players’ right to free speech, Montel slammed the free speech rights of Americans who have criticized their gutless actions. Williams said most Americans don’t have the right to criticize the players because they never served in the military.
Williams pointed out that over 40 percent of the military are people of “color.” He offered no historic data to back up the claim.
It’s always fun to watch someone bend the Constitution like a cheap dry-cleaning hanger by defending the right to protest alleged systemic racism while pulling the race card on folks on the other side of the argument.
