An unnamed U.S. soldier was killed Saturday afternoon during operations in Logar Province, Afghanistan.
Operation Resolute Support, the U.S. mission in Afghanistan, released a statement Saturday saying that one service member died of wounds during an operation in Logar Province. Notably, however, the statement did not say whether or not he was killed because of contact with enemy forces.
“On behalf of U.S. Forces – Afghanistan, we offer our deepest condolences to the family of our fallen brother,” said Army Gen. John Nicholson, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan. “Despite this tragic event, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the Afghan people and to support them in our mutual fight against terrorism.”
