EXCLUSIVE: DEA Head Slams Trump, Resigns After Trump Trashed Hush Plans to Merge Drug Agency with Comey’s FBI

President Donald Trump shattered a plan hatched by the heads of the FBI and DEA to ultimately merge the intelligence agencies into one super agency under the FBI flag to rival the CIA, federal agents said.

Perhaps this serves as a better answer to the question of why ex-FBI chief James Comey and DEA head Chuck Rosenberg — who resigned this week after a Trump-infused tantrum — are not fans of President Trump.

Comey and Rosenberg, in fact, have lashed out at Trump several times publicly.

Trump’s unexpected election threw a monkey wrench into very hush plans to merge the FBI and DEA, largely spearheaded by Rosenberg who wanted additional resources for his intelligence operation. But Comey was hungry for more power too, sources said.

Rosenberg, a protege of Comey, twice served as chief of staff for Comey under the DOJ flag. He also worked for U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller who is now tasked with investigating the Trump administration.

Comey sought additional and sweeping intelligence powers through the proposed merger of DEA and would have afforded the Bureau an international foot print to compete against the CIA, sources said. The DEA has built an impressive and vast — albeit mostly secret — international intelligence apparatus in the Middle East and beyond. Comey wanted to control that.

Rosenberg would have fallen back into his groove assisting Comey, running DEA international OPS under FBI, sources said.

The plan crumbled when Trump was elected and Jeff Sessions was appointed Attorney General. Under prior AG Loretta Lynch, who was expected to serve Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton if she won the White House, Comey’s and Rosenberg’s plan had gained steam, federal sources said.

Rosenberg was a Comey protege.

Comey was a Mueller protege.

All three now have a public hand in trashing and minimizing the sitting U.S. President.

Are we seeing any troubling patterns here yet?
