Philippine police reportedly blasted water cannons and used batons on protesters demonstrating outside of the U.S. Embassy in Manila shortly ahead of President Trump’s arrival at the diplomatic compound.

Police in riot gear blocked the left-wing protesters, who were carrying signs that read “Dump Trump” and “Down with US Imperialism,” ABC News and Reuters reported Sunday.

“Trump is the CEO of the imperialist US Government,” Alexis Danday, an 18-year-old student, told ABC News after authorities made the crowd disperse.

Trump met with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday during his first official visit to the country, the last stop on his five-nation tour of Asia.
