MEMO: NBC President Touts New Anti-Harassment Training; Equates Matt Lauer’s Sex Escapades to Roughing Up Office Vending Machine

NBC News Chairman Andy Lack trumpeted the network’s new anti-harassment training program Friday while also failing to say anchor Matt Lauer was fired for anything having to do with sexual misconduct.

Sounds like the management in NBC’s executive suite should be the first to receive the updated training.

Lack called the allegations from Lauer’s colleagues ” inappropriate workplace behavior.”

Sounds way better than sexual abuse, groping, harassment or molesting.

Suddenly standing on a desk or drop kicking the vending machine is equal to molesting subordinates in your office.

Who knew?

From NBC’s press release:

Lauer was fired last week for “inappropriate workplace behavior,” after a woman told NBC officials about his misconduct. Subsequent news reports included accusations from multiple women who described Lauer as a sexual predator, and suggested that NBC officials had received complaints about his behavior. NBC issued a statement saying that no current members of the network’s management were aware of Lauer’s actions.

Sure. We believe you. No, we really do.
