Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon’s pledge to oust him from his leadership position by next year made him laugh.
“You can write that down,” McConnell told The New York Times on Friday. “I laughed. Ha-ha. That’s a perfect response.”
The comment from McConnell comes after Bannon in his own interviewwith the newspaper said he does not think McConnell will still be majority leader this time next year.
“It’s not my personal mission, but it is an objective that I — I have an objective that Mitch McConnell will not be majority leader, and I believe will be done before this time next year,” Bannon told the Times.
