Manchester Bomber Called Mom Before Attack

A spokesman for an anti-terror force in Libya says the Manchester suicide bomber called his mother prior to the attack asking her to forgive him.

Special Deterrent Force spokesman Ahmed bin Salem said Salman Abedi’s mother and three of his siblings were recently brought in for questioning, reports AP.

During the questioning, Abedi’s mother revealed that he returned to England from Libya just four days prior to the attack and called her to say goodbye on the day of the attack.

“He was giving farewell,” bin Salem said, relaying that Abedi told his mother, “Forgive me.”

Bin Salem also said that they believe Abedi learned how to make bombs on the internet, hoped to “seek victory for the Islamic State,” and acted alone in the attack.

Abedi, who was 22 years old, detonated an explosive outside of an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, which killed 22 people and injured more than 50 others. Abedi died in the attack.
