Lara Trump, the pregnant wife of Eric Trump, gave the Christian Broadcast Network quite an earful Wednesday. Among the highlights: They’ve lost friends since Donald Trump was elected President. The press doesn’t give her father-in-law a fair shake.
And finally, Trump is just so wildly misunderstood.
Appearing on the network’s Faith Nation program, Lara explained that it’s the media’s fault that Trump had to create “Real News” updates read by the likes of Kaleigh McEnany, a staunch Trumpette who previously appeared on CNN to puff up POTUS no matter what he said or how he behaved.
“The reality is these are concrete things that are being accomplished every week by my father-in-law’s administration and the reality is if we had a fair shake within the regular news cycle, we wouldn’t feel the need to post this sort of thing,” she said.
On losing friendships…
“I don’t want to say we’ve lost friends, but we’ve definitely distanced ourselves or been distanced by friends and I think it’s the nature of the beast. You know, when you get involved in politics, half the people love you and half the people hate you.”
Lara says she prays for Trump and says he’s “truly” a man of God.
“I pray for the President every night that he leads this country in the right direction and I’ve said it so many times, actually on the campaign trail, I heard every single day, ‘we’re praying for you, we’re praying for your father-in-law, we’re praying for your family,’ and I have to tell you, I think that God had a huge role in in this election,” she said.
Part of the problem, she says, is that Trump’s directness gets misconstrued.
“I just think his compassion gets lost a lot of times,” she said. “He’s a very direct guy. He’s a very straightforward guy. He says exactly what he’s thinking. He doesn’t sugarcoat things but he cares so much about this country, about the people of this country. He’s a family man. He truly is a man of God… His faith I know has always been important to him.”
Trump has said that his favorite book is the Bible.
He famously cited “two Corinthians during a speech at Liberty University in January, 2016.
No matter that Liberty is the nation’s most prominent evangelical Christian college.
Many of the students laughed.
Liberals mocked the candidate. “Corinthians 2 Trump 0,” Keith Olbermann wrote on Twitter. Jon Favreau, a former speechwriter to President Obama, gave assistance to the media: “Free headline idea: Two Corinthians, One Trump.”
Trump soon learned that it’s actually “Second Corinthians.”[contentcards url=”http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/23/lara-trump-my-father-in-laws-compassion-gets-lost/” target=”_blank”]
