Kathy Griffin Free Of Federal Investigation Into Severed Trump Head Stunt

Comedian Kathy Griffin announced on Twitter Friday that the federal investigation into her for holding a fake severed head resembling President Donald Trump has ended.

Griffin posed with the severed head in a photo appearing online at the end of May.

Her lawyer soon confirmed that she was being investigated for the stunt by the Secret Service in early June, The New York Times reports.

After public backlash over the incident, CNN fired Griffin from her job cohosting the New Year’s Eve show with Anderson Cooper.

Shortly after the picture went viral and the backlash began, Griffin claimed at a press conference that Trump was at fault for her actions.

Trump responded to Griffin’s severed head shoot with a Tweet telling Griffin she should be “ashamed.”

“I don’t think I’m going to have a career after this. I’m going to be honest, he broke me,” Griffin said, according to TIME. “A sitting president of the United States and his grown children, and the First Lady, personally, I feel, are trying to ruin my life forever.”
