Shocking footage of police brutality in Shanghai surfaced online Friday, infuriating Chinese social media users.
The video shows a mother holding her child while arguing with a police officer. The woman pushes the police officer, albeit not very hard, while verbally assaulting the man. In response, the policeman body slams the woman, sending her child flying through the air and crashing into the concrete sidewalk.

Shanghai police have confirmed the incident, which occurred around 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Songjiang District. The confrontation was over a parking violation, according to Chinese media reports.
Both officers involved in the altercation have been suspended, and an investigation is underway. Both the woman and the child have been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Some online commentators have criticized the woman for unwisely physically assaulting a police officer, but others have attacked the police for taking a minor incident too far. “How much of a threat is one woman holding a baby to a pair of male police officers?” asked one commentator.
