Protestors assaulted a Virginia reporter during a march calling to remove Confederate statues Sunday night.

The CBS 6 photojournalist attended the march, outside of his work capacity, and filmed many of the protesters as they marched down the streets of Richmond. Some of the protesters got angry with the photojournalist documenting the protest and confronted him.

“Stop filming bro,” one of the protesters yelled. The journalist responded by saying he could film whatever he wants. The video shows the journalist getting his camera knocked out from his hand and then getting pummeled repeatedly.  The journalist reported that he got head injuries from the incident and had to get four stitches in his head.

“Our  photojournalist assaulted in the head while shooting protests in Richmond. In the hospital getting stitches. Stop the VIOLENCE!” a fellow reporter tweeted out.

The Richmond protesters came out to protest Confederate statues and demand that they get removed.

“Tear the racist statues down,” the protesters chanted while one man tried to climb up the statue.
