WATCH: Police Drag Nurse Outside As She Cries ‘I Did Nothing Wrong!’

Police violently arrested a University of Utah nurse after she refused to give them a blood sample from one of her patients, according to police footage released Thursday.

The incident occurred in late July when Detective Jeff Payne arrived at the Utah hospital asking for blood samples from an injured semi truck driver that had crashed into another vehicle July 26, killing the other driver, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. Payne wanted the blood sample to determine whether the driver was under the influence of any substances during the crash, but nurse Alex Wubbels told him it was illegal for her to draw blood from an unconscious patient without consent or a warrant.

The footage, shot from Payne’s body camera, shows Wubbels on the phone with watch commander Lt. James Tracy, who claims police have “implied consent” from the patient to draw his blood. Wubbels refuses nevertheless. Utah has not had implied consent laws on the books since 2007, according to Wubbels’ attorney.

“I either go away with blood in vials or body in tow,” Payne says.

Wubbels still refuses to comply, at which point Payne announces she is under arrest, which she resists.

Wubbels can be heard yelling, “Help! Help! Somebody help me! Stop! Stop! I did nothing wrong!” as Payne drags her to a patrol car and with two onlooking law enforcement officers.

Wubbels was later released with no charges and Payne has been suspended from retrieving blood samples as part of an ongoing internal police investigation.
