Trump Once Accused The AG Investigating Him Of Being A Cross-Dressing Coke Fiend

President Donald Trump once accused a Democratic state attorney general that is assisting Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election of being a coke fiend who wears eyeliner.

New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is reportedly assistingMueller’s team in its investigation of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Schneiderman’s office is also said to be investigating transactions related to Trump businesses, and may share its findings with Mueller.

Trump and Schneiderman have a contentious relationship, arising from the AG’s former investigation of the president’s eponymous Trump University, an organization mired in allegations of fraud before it ceased operations in 2010. As the investigation intensified, Trump loosed a steady barrage of disparagement on the AG from his Twitter account in 2014.

He first accused Schneiderman of wearing Revlon eyeliner when he appeared in public, echoing rumors allegedly spread by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

He later accused the AG of being a coke head.

Trump’s tweet refers to allegations which appeared in an Oct. 2014 edition of the New York Post. The story relays the account of a Democratic activist who claims Schneiderman snorted lines of cocaine at a Manhattan bar called Siberia, a revolting dive popular with “slumming socialites and authentic down-and-outers.”

The AG has admitted to cocaine use in his youth, but denied using drugs of any sort in adulthood.

Trump reiterated the charge in a subsequent tweet, and called on Schneiderman to take a drug test and publicize the results.

Trump stepped things up in January 2015 and called for the AG’s arrest.

The president settled the fraud case Schneiderman brought against Trump University shortly after the 2016 presidential election, on the advice of legal counsel that urged him to dispense with outstanding legal claims against him. He has been largely silent about his former nemesis while in the White House.
