Tillerson: No Apology For Sharing Israeli Intelligence With Russia

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has no apologies for Donald Trump allegedly sharing intelligence with the foreign minister and ambassador of Russia in the Oval Office.

Trump’s disclosure of the evidence, reported last week by the Washington Post, sparked a firestorm, as many people see Russia as an adversary of the United States, not to be trusted with intelligence.

The intelligence Trump reportedly shared was related to ISIS plans to use laptops as bombs on planes.

It was later revealed that Israel was the source of the intelligence that Trump shared. Israel was reportedly “furious” at Trump’s sharing of information.

Trump defended himself on Twitter:

However, Secretary Tillerson told reporters on Air Force One this morning on his way to Israel that he had no apology.

“I don’t know that there’s anything to apologize for,” he added, “To the extent the Israelis have any questions, or clarification, I’m sure we’re happy to provide that.”

H.R. McMaster has similarly defended the President, saying that sharing the info with Russia was, “consistent with the routine sharing of information.”
