A taxpayer-funded Clemson University professor has taken to Facebook to announce his belief that President Donald Trump’s plan to ban transgender people from the military resembles “Nazi eugenic propaganda against disabled people.”
The professor, Jonathon Beecher Field, belongs to Clemson’s English department.
Field made his comparison late last month after Trump posted a series of tweets concerning transgender military service.
Trumps composed his tweets on July 26.
“Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail,” Trump wrote.
Trump said he had decided that “the United States Government will not accept or allow” transgender individuals to serve in the armed forces after “consultation with generals and military experts.”
The series of tweets is not yet official Defense Department policy.
Field, the Clemson professor, mused further on Facebook about how, in his view, it’s morally wrong to ban transgender people from the military.
As Campus Reform notes, Field has also complained that some Clemson students believe that only males have penises and only females have vaginas.
“I have students who run into classmates opining ‘you either have a penis or a vagina, so trans people don’t exist,’” he observed on July 26. “I would welcome links to resources these students can share to point out how this is transphobic BS? Like Trans 101 for dummies.”
The taxpayer-funded professor also suggested that John McCain’s recent vote against the failed Senate health care reform bill was just like “if Willis Reed had hobbled onto” the court during the 1970 NBA finals and “released a canister of Sarin,” according to Campus Reform.
Sarin is a toxic chemical nerve agent that can cause paralysis and respiratory failure.
Field’s Facebook likes include Whole Foods Market, White Nonsense Roundup, and at least three college sorority organizations.
Clemson University is most famous, of course, because school officials swiftly apologized for serving Mexican food during a food-themed “Maximum Mexican” night in campus cafeterias in 2015. Two students had complained about the ongoing cafeteria fiesta. One of them tweeted an image of cafeteria workers wearing sombreros. The caption of the tweet — which later appears to have disappeared — was: “Our culture isn’t a costume and we will not be mocked!”
The public school also allowed a doctoral student to create and submit a rap album for his Ph.D. dissertation. The budding, would-be Ph.D. rapper, A.D. Carson, submitted his urban street poetry dissertation in Clemson’s rhetorics, communication and information design program.
Clemson University has also allocated nearly $27,000 on diversity training materials for professors, which include a series of slides depicting scenarios with fictional characters. One slide features a guy named Alejandro who plans a meeting between two groups. Each group contains foreign professors and students. One group shows up 15 minutes early. The second group shows up 10 minutes late. A question-and-answer section then instructs Clemson’s professors that Alejandro would be insufficiently “inclusive” if he were to “politely ask the second group to apologize.” Alejandro would also be wrong to advise the straggling, late people who aren’t respecting everyone else’s time that “in our country, 9:00 a.m. means 9:00 a.m.” The “inclusive” thing for Alejandro to do, the taxpayer-funded diversity materials instruct Clemson professors, is to understand “that his cultural perspective regarding time is neither more nor less valid than any other.”[contentcards url=”http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/08/taxpayer-funded-professor-transgender-military-ban-is-like-ableist-nazi-propaganda/” target=”_blank”]
