An alarming video has surfaced showing Virginia State Police standing on the street and casually watching James Alex Fields slowly cruise past police in his crushed car moments after he plowed into a crowd of demonstrators on Saturday in Charlottesville, killing one woman and injuring dozens more.
Police watch what appears to be the accused killer cruise by in his badly-damaged Dodge yet do nothing, while some onlookers cheered the driver on.
Concerned citizens are seen on the video alerting police that Fields’ grey Dodge — the car that had just driven past the officers — had just mowed down pedestrians moments before. Police on the video almost seem to discount the information.
Fields faces one count of second degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and one count of hit-and-run after the incident.
