Senate Intelligence Committee Wants To Question Sessions

Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins said Friday that the Senate Intelligence Committee will be requesting documents from Attorney General Jeff Sessions with regard to alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“The committee is going to be requesting documents and an interview with the Attorney General, there are some unanswered questions. The Attorney General clearly made the right decision in recusing himself from the Russian investigation,” Collins said in an interview with MSNBC.

Sessions recused himself in March from any type of federal investigation into Russia’s reported influence in the 2016 presidential election. He had previously failed to disclose two meetings that he had with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak while he was an advisor to then-candidate Donald Trump during his campaign in 2016. Sessions may have also had a third meeting in April, CNN reports.

During the interview Collins would not answer where the committee was seeking information about the reported third meeting.
