School Board Member Blasts Black Lives Matter College Course

A California school board member launched a group to protest a Black Lives Matter college course, saying that it’s “insane” for tax dollars to fund it.

Craig DeLuz, a gun rights advocate, formed the group after San Diego State University announced its course, “Black Minds Matter: A Focus on Black Boys and Men in Education,” CBS News reported Tuesday.

“Black Lives Matter is political movement. And even worse, it’s movement whose members have promoted segregation and violence against law enforcement,” DeLuz said. “Now we want to give them taxpayer dollars to train educators on how to indoctrinate our children? That’s insane!”

The college course, started by Professor J. Luke Wood, draws from the Black Lives Matter movement and seeks to address some of the issues black men might face in education and in schools.

“This course will seek to change that, by training our 30 in-class students and 10,000 online learners (most of whom are public school teachers and college educators) to understand their new role in training, preparing, and mobilizing their classrooms,” Woods told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

DeLuz and his coalition feel that the class is unfair because conservative students have a hard time having their views expressed on campuses. He plans to ask the university to cancel the class.

“Conservative students have to fight universities tooth and nail to get conservatives approved to speak on most campuses,” DeLuz said. “But liberal speakers are not only getting funded to push a political ideology, the students who come to hear them can get college credit.”

Wood isn’t bothered by the critics of his course. “It is hard for darkness to comprehend the light,” Wood told TheDCNF in response to criticism on his course.
