The city of San Antonio, Texas, found itself on the wrong end of a lawsuit after removing a Confederate statue, according to a Wednesday report.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy, a group that has erected Confederate monuments across the country, sued the city Monday for removing a memorial honoring Confederate soldiers in September, reported News 4 San Antonio.
The now-disbanded local Barnard E. Bee chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy alleged ownership of the memorial and argued they did not get a chance to challenge its removal. The group claimed that it does not know where the monument is currently housed and alleged that San Antonio did not reply to requests to discuss the statue.
