New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) is considering throwing his hat in the ring for the 2020 presidential election, the New York Post’s Page Six reported.
De Blasio’s strategy will focus on convincing progressives he is the best person to run for the seat. Age will be a vital talking point for the 56-year-old New York City mayor, who will argue Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), 75, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), 68, are too old to seek the White House.
“He thinks he’s the inheritor of the Warren and Sanders legacy,” a Democratic power broker told the Post, “but no one told Warren and Sanders they were dead.”
