POLL: Most Democrats Prefer Biden and Sanders for Party Nomination in 2020

A new Morning Consult/Politico poll released on Monday found former United States Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders favored most by Democrats for the party’s 2020 nomination.

Biden ranked first with 26 percent of Democrats supporting him as the party’s next nominee, followed closely by Sen. Sanders, who is preferred by 19 percent.

Of the 773 Democrats surveyed, 31 percent selected another one of the 18 candidates as their choice for the party’s nominee in the 2020 election, while 21 percent remain undecided or have no opinion. Three percent said they prefer a different nominee than the options listed.

The poll also found that black Democrats were almost twice as likely to say Biden is their first choice by 28 percent to 15 percent over Sanders. However, Sanders held an eight point advantage with the country’s youngest voters – 29 percent to 21 percent. – READ MORE
