NPR icon Garrison Keillor, the former host of “A Prairie Home Companion,” said Wednesday that he has been fired by Minnesota Public Radio.

Keillor revealed in an email to The Associated Press that he had been let go. Meanwhile, MPR said in a statement it had received a single complaint of “inappropriate behavior” regarding the host.

“Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is terminating its contracts with Garrison Keillor and his private media companies after recently learning of allegations of his inappropriate behavior with an individual who worked with him,” the statement read.

Keillor argued that the real “story” of the incident “is more interesting and more complicated than the version MPR heard.” But he did not elaborate further.
