New Yorker Cover: Trump Using KKK Hood As Boat Sail

Next week’s cover of The New Yorker will portray a cartoon Donald Trump blowing wind into a boat sail made out of a KKK hood.

The New Yorker’s Twitter account sent out a photo of the magazine cover that will be released next week. On the cover, Trump is sitting in a sailboat and is blowing wind into a white sail with eye holes cut into it.

The cover is called “Blowhard” and was illustrated by David Plunkert.

“President Trump’s weak pushback to hate groups—as if he was trying not to alienate them as voters—compelled me to take up my pen,” Plunkert said of the drawing.

“A picture does a better job showing my thoughts than words do; it can have a light touch on a subject that’s extremely scary,” he said.

The cover is similar to The Economist’s cover released earlier, which protrays Donald Trump using a KKK hood as a megaphone.

The implication of both images is that Trump is providing a platform or encouragement for white supremacist groups through his comments on the violent protests in Charlottesville, VA.
