One of the most prominent unsolved crimes in American history is a step closer to being closed, according to one cold case detective.
Ken Mains told Fox News recently that he is “confident” after discovering a DNA sample from a more than 50-year-old crime that investigators will finally identify the elusive “Zodiac Killer.”
(…)
Mains believes he can offer the best evidence yet after analyzing evidence found on Cheri Jo Bates, a woman the killer claimed to be one of his early victims.
“During the examination of Bates’ clothing, I discovered, without a doubt, two bloody handprints at the bottom of her pants,” he said.
Those prints contained biological information, he said, giving investigators “potential to obtain Zodiac’s DNA.”
