Net Neutrality Activists Tied To Violent Groups, Convicted Al-Qaeda Terrorist by Eric Lieberman and Ted Goodman.
Net neutrality activists currently targeting Federal Communications Commission Chairman (FCC) Ajit Pai involve several individuals who are associated with groups that have a history of violence.
The activists, who are protesting plans to eliminate Obama-era net neutrality regulations, have connections to radical alt-left groups including DisruptJ20 and Popular Resistance. One activist leader, Evan Greer, worked three years to free an al Qaeda terrorist convicted of planning to shoot up a Boston shopping mall.
Greer lists his role as Media Strategy and Outreach Coordinator for the Tarek Mehanna Support Group on his LinkedIn profile. Mehanna was convicted on charges that he conspired to kill Americans and was sentenced to 17.5 years in federal prison.
A small group of protesters, led by Kevin Zeese, director of the radical group Popular Resistance, demonstrated outside of Pai’s home on Mother’s Day. Zeese claimed that they didn’t choose Mother’s Day for any reason other than the fact that it was the Sunday before the FCC’s open meeting.
“The reason we are here is because Chairman Pai has made it very clear that he’s already decided this issue,” Zeese told The Daily Caller News Foundation Sunday. “Before the public comment period even begins, he’s already said he’s getting rid of Title II, and he’s getting rid of net neutrality.”
Eleanor Goldfield, who helped organize the Disrupt J20 protests during President Donald Trump’s inauguration, joined Popular Resistance Sunday afternoon outside of Pai’s home.
At least 217 people were arrested during Trump’s Inauguration Day, many of whom were charged with rioting. Goldfield declined to comment when approached by TheDCNF for comment.
John Zangas, a self-described “citizen journalist” with the leftist DC Media Group collective, also showed up Sunday outside of Pai’s home. Zangas was the videographer of an organized antifa (Anti-Facist) protest on March 4, 2017. Antifa protestors disrupted a pro-Trump rally on the National Mall in Washington D.C.
Activists plan to protest outside of the Chairman’s suburban Washington D.C. home from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. each night this week, until the FCC’s May 18 open meeting.
