NEW YORK — Women’s March organizer Linda Sarsour joined fellow supporters of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick at a rally on Wednesday, vowing that law enforcement activists and “right wing Zionists” will not keep them quiet.
“We will not be silenced by blue lives matter—by white supremacists—by neo Nazis—by right wing Zionists. Expect us anytime there is a fight for justice or a fight against injustice,” Sarsour said in her remarks to the crowd, who stood in front of the Park Avenue building that houses the offices of the National Football League.
Listen to Sarsour’s speech (starts at 1:45):
She added, “You better expect us because we will be there and we will be there on the front lines of justice. That means putting our lives on the lines of justice. That being said, if you are not ready to put your life on the line for freedom, take that word out of your mouth.”
Advocates of the former NFL’er, who began sitting out and later kneeling during the rendition of the national anthem prior each game last season, caused a contentious national debate over race and politics in professional sports.
His actions, set off by his protest of the Star Spangled Banner, led some to suspect that Kaepernick was not asked to play on any team for the 2017 season.
Organizers for the protest called for a boycott of the NFL unless a team decides to sign Kaepernick by next month at the start of the regular season.
“I don’t care how long you’ve been watching football, if they don’t stand up for your children, turn the damn TV off,” Women’s March organizer Tamika Mallory, said.
Listen to Simone Sanders:
The event kicked off in the early evening when co-emcee Mark Thompson introduced his co-emcee Simone Sanders saying, she is known for pushing “back against those devils on CNN.” Sanders then went on to introduce Nakia E. Cook to sing the “Lift Every Voice,” described by Sanders as the “black national anthem.”
“The real national anthem,” she said.[contentcards url=”http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/24/linda-sarsour-rails-against-kaepernick-at-nyc-rally/” target=”_blank”]
