There is a famous joke about how the media would report God telling them the world was about to end, with (pick a newspaper) writing, “God says world to end tomorrow; women and minorities hardest hit.”
A well-known leftist website, rather than focus on the general damage that will eventuate from Hurricane Harvey as it hits the Texas coast, focused its rhetorical efforts on the selectivity of the hurricane in targeting the black population of Texas.
The Daily Kos writes:
This is shaping up to be another Hurricane Katrina—complete with a devastating impact on black and brown communities. Southeast Texas and the coastal bend regions of the state are expected to be the hardest hit. While Hispanics make up about 40 percent of the state’s population, Texas has one of the largest black populations in the country. And they live concentrated in the areas that are predicted to be hardest hit.
