The handling of the Rahami case has echoes of similar concerns raised after a terrorist-inspired mass killing at a gay nightclub last June in Orlando, Fla., after the 2013 bombings at the Boston Marathon and after two men were shot dead as they tried to stage a terror attack last year in Garland, Texas.
In each of those cases, the FBI had been alerted ahead of time by a variety of informants and tipsters about young men who might be on the verge of carrying out a terrorist attack.
