Kathy Griffin isn’t sorry for holding up a severed, bloody Trump head anymore.
The disgraced comedian who sparked media outrage with the gruesome photo initially apologized for posing with the fake decapitated head in June. Now that she’s had more time to think about it, she’s taking the apology back.
“I am no longer sorry,” Griffin told Seven Network in Australia on Tuesday. “The whole outrage was B.S., the whole thing got so blown out of proportion, and I lost everybody.”
Griffin then complained about receiving criticism from former first daughter Chelsea Clinton, her friend Debra Messing and losing her job for the photo. She also claimed that she has trouble buying the story that she “damaged Barron” because he’s “seen stuff way worse than that photo coming our of his own father.”
“The picture happened. The outrage was ridiculous. I made an apology,” Griffin recalled.
“Stop acting like my little picture is more important than talking about the actual atrocities that the President of the United States is committing,” she added.
In an Sunday interview published by The Cut, Griffin offered a similar sentiment.
“Why are people still expecting me to apologize and grovel to a man that tweets like this?” Griffin vented to me. “I’m a comedian; he’s our fucking president.”
Griffin is now turning her controversy into a rebound tour on which it sounds like Trump will be a frequent target. The disgraced comedian is taking her “Laugh Your Head Off” shows to Australia in October.
