Gorsuch’s Student Newspaper Urged Trump To Run 30 Years Ago
The year was 1987. A few students at Columbia University who had formed an alternative newspaper called The Federalist Paper decided to have some fun looking ahead at the 1988 presidential race.
They did a poll showing that the favorite at the time was Mario Cuomo, the late New York governor. But such staid reporting is contrary to the tradition of college newspapers, and so the story was enlivened with a section of “tidbits” designed to give everybody a laugh.
One of the jokes? “Trump should run for pres.”
