North Korean leader Kim Jong-un spent some of his teenage years attending an international school in Switzerland, where he once played a tambourine in class.

The video was exclusively obtained by Al-Jazeera, and features an interview with one of the North Korean dictator’s former classmates. Kim attended the school under an alias and posed as a child of a North Korean diplomat, where he is most remembered for his love of basketball.

After Kim’s ascension to heir apparent, it became clear that the U.S. government started interviewing his former classmates to obtain intelligence on his character.

“We went to great pains to interview almost everyone – classmates, others – to try to get a sense of what his character was like,” former U.S. Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell said in 2013. “The general recounting of those experiences led us to believe that he was dangerous, unpredictable, prone to violence and with delusions of grandeur.”
