Ex-WSJ Reporters Upset Their Former Editor Demands Fact-Based News Coverage

Two former Wall Street Journal reporters appeared to praise current reporters for leaking emails from the paper’s editor-in-chief Wednesday.

Editor Gerard Baker sent a series of emails to WSJ reporters and editors Tuesday night, criticizing them for writing “commentary dressed up as news reporting” regarding President Donald Trump’s Tuesday night speech in Phoenix, Ariz. At least one WSJ employee responded by leaking the email chainto the New York Times.

Two former WSJ employees, Neil King and Katie Rosman, appeared to praise the leakers on Twitter.

Several other journalists took to Twitter to express their skepticism of Baker’s editorial leadership, including CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski and Mark Berman of The Washington Post

While those on Twitter criticized Baker for being soft on Trump, the editor only asked his staff to “stick to reporting what he [Trump] said rather than packaging it in exegesis and selective criticism.”
