White men are the Democratic Party’s best chance to defeat President Trump in the 2020 presidential election, according to the results of a wide-ranging survey released Tuesday.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., both septuagenarians, are the Democrats’ best hope, Public Policy Polling found.

Biden, 74, has the greatest advantage over Trump by 18 percent (56 to 38 percent), followed by Sanders, 76, with a 15 percent advantage (53 to 38 percent). Sanders is an independent, but he ran a competitive campaign for the Democratic nomination in 2016.

PPP found Sen. Cory Booker, the first black U.S. senator from New Jersey, has an 11 percent advantage over Trump (49 to 38 percent).

Trailing Booker are Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y, who are white and each lead Trump by 10 percent (50 to 40 percent, and 48 to 38 percent respectively).
