Congressman Calls Mueller’s Russia Investigation ‘Compromised’

Republican Congressman Trent Franks of Arizona called special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian ties to the Trump campaign “compromised” Monday.

Franks, in his USA Today op-ed, took issue with the illegal leaks of information last Friday from the grand jury to CNN that an indictment was coming Monday. It had the effect of “every political pundit” in the country fueling the “conspiracy theory” that President Donald Trump won in 2016 because of Russian influence in the election.

To Franks, this is “evidence” making “even clearer” that Mueller’s investigation is “compromised.”

“This, just as the GOP is on the brink of passing landmark, historic tax reform,” questioned Franks. “What a coincidence … then, the big reveal occurs Monday morning — it’s a nothingburger. … The FBI has been looking to charge him long before Trump was even on the political map.”
