Bill Nye The ‘Age Out And Die’ Guy

It’s rare, even in these toxic times, to see an American specifically call for the demise of an entire generation to further a political goal. Well, Bill Nye, the “Science Guy,” did it recently in an interview with the LA Times. He did it in such a way, however, that it seemed perfectly reasonable to suggest. He’d like the older generation to just “age out” because there are so many stubborn climate skeptics among them.

He said: “Climate change deniers, by way of example, are older. It’s generational. So we’re just going to have to wait for those people to ‘age out,’ as they say… it’ll happen, I guarantee you — that’ll happen.”

If only President Trump was as eloquent in telling people to pound sand and die. Not only has Mr. Nye grasped the guaranteed end result of our existence (death), but he has perfected, it appears, the mindset of a diplomat in the process. The diplomat’s motto is  “always tell people to go to Hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip.”

“Aging out” is such a wonderful euphemism that Bill Nye should win a “Euphy” to go along with all those Emmys.  By the way, you don’t actually have to die to age out. You could have a terrible disease that takes away the energy to care about the issues that affect our future. Alternatively, you could develop Alzheimer’s disease and no longer have the brain cells to chime in on the political discourse of the day. If you’re not old enough to age out yet, Bill has another option: He is on record as not objecting too much if you were put in jail for your climate heresies. But, of course, Bill would really just like you to die. You know, for the good of the planet.

Bill Nye has been a lot of things in his life: mechanical engineer, comedian, and host of a TV show for kids. He’s also been a technical expert for “BattleBots”, a show depicting gladiatorial combat between robots, and a contestant on “Dancing With The Stars”. Among other accomplishments, he has patents on ballet shoes and on a magnifying glass composed of a plastic bag filled with water.

Somewhere in there, there are dubious claims to being a scientist of sorts. Although the best he gets from Wikipedia is “science communicator”, Bill Nye won the adulation of the viewing public with numerous Emmys for his kiddie science show. Now he is winning kudos from Hollywood, the Left, and the media (all one and the same) for his diatribes against those who question man-made climate change. Academia loves this guy as well, giving him several honorary doctorates in science for spouting the correct dogma (and keeping the professors’ kids out of their hair at home).

Strange that Bill would like climate skeptics to age out and die. Nye is a fellow of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, a U.S. non-profit whose goal is to promote scientific inquiry and critical investigation. Perhaps Bill Nye, the Age Out and Die Guy, should establish a Committee for Skepticism of Skeptical Inquiry instead.

There is climate change, certainly. There always has been and there always will.  Man may even play a part in it this time around, but what can be done about it? The U.S. is only responsible for about one-sixth of carbon emissions. China causes twice that, and India, Brazil, and other developing countries are contributing more and more as they modernize. Ask them to join the United States in eliminating coal as an energy source or spend huge amounts of money on green energy, and all you’ll get is lip service (unless you’re paying the bill). As the quality of life in these countries improve, people will want things like cars and other status symbols that, unfortunately, cause pollution.

Barack Obama’s America told these countries to stop using fossil fuels because, um, climate change and stuff. Their response was, essentially: “You exploited the planet’s oil, coal, and gas for 100 years to become the world’s superpower, but you want us to tighten the energy belt now that we’re starting to give our people the American, I mean Chinese, Dream? Sure, no problem, we love the environment! Maybe we’ll start limiting emissions in 2030 or so. Or you can pay for it.”

None of this fazes Bill Nye, the Age Out and Die guy. He doesn’t realize, apparently, that nothing the United States does unilaterally is going to stop whatever man-related effects there might be on the climate. Like most progressives, he wants “progress” or, at least, what the Hollywood and academic Left consider progress to be. For that, you need an entire country full of snowflakes. Baby Boomers presided over a post-world war era of (relative) peace and prosperity in this country, but Bill says it’s time for them to hit the road. Bill Nye’s message for older Americans: “you’re in the way; lead, follow, or age out.”
