Watchdog Claims Newly Uncovered Evidence Proves Obama’s EPA Secretly Broke Federal Law

New emails obtained by a watchdog group reveal the extent of the Environmental Protection Agency’s “covert propaganda” campaign on social media under former President Barack Obama.

The EPA’s illegal use of social media to sway public opinion on the Waters of the United States rule, or the clean water rule, was first uncovered by the non-partisan Government Accountability Office in December 2015.

“GAO’s finding confirms what I have long suspected, that EPA will go to extreme lengths and even violate the law to promote its activist environmental agenda,” Sen. James Inhofe, the then-chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said in response to the GAO’s report.

He criticized the “EPA’s illegal attempts to manufacture public support for its Waters of the United States rule and sway congressional opinion.”

The EPA used a campaigning tool called Thunderclap in an effort to engage citizens to counter opposition to the proposed clean water rule, which was eventually passed.
