Tim Tebow is already making some noise on his new team.

The St. Lucie Mets player hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning on the first pitch to clinch a 5-4 comeback victory against the Daytona Tortugas on Thursday night

The former football player launched a fastball over the left-field fences, bringing the fans to their feet and sending his teammates rushing to team plate.

“It was fun to celebrate with all the guys,” Tebow said after being doused in Gatorade by his teammates.

The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback announced last year that his days of playing football were over and he would be trying his hand at a new sport. The New York Mets signed Tebow in September and he has worked his way up in the minor leagues ever since, recently earning a spot on the St. Lucie Mets.

His walk-off homer on Thursday was his first since his junior year of high school, according to ESPN.

“[The high school homer] was for the district championship,” Tebow said. “That felt pretty good, but this one was special.”

Tebow has hit three home runs in 16 games since being promoted from Columbia Fireflies to the St. Lucie team. It was his sixth home run in the 80 games he’s played in his first season as a minor leaguer.
