A Missouri state senator has apologized for wishing Trump will be assassinated four days after her comments were made public.
Many called for Democrat Maria Chapelle-Nadal to step down or be forced out of her post after she wrote “I hope Trump is assassinated!” on Facebook. Chapelle-Nadal deleted the post shortly after it circulated in the media, but said she would not resign from her state senate position.
Missouri Lt. Gov. Mike Parson told Chapelle-Nadal that if she does not resign, the Missouri Senate will move to expel her for “contempt and disorderly conduct.”
On Sunday, Chapelle-Nadal publicly apologized to Trump and his family for writing the post.
“President Trump, I apologize to you and your family,” she said. “I made a mistake and I am owning up to it. And I am not ever going to make a mistake like that again. I have learned my lesson.”
“My judge and my jury is my lord Jesus Christ,” she concluded.
