“Morning Joe” regular and New York Times reporter Jeremy Peters said former White House adviser Steve Bannon has a hit list of establishment Republicans similar to that of Arya Stark’s from “Game of Thrones.”
“Do you watch Game of Thrones? He’s [Bannon’s] like Arya Stark. Remember, who has that list of people she wants to kill. And she does. Kind of crosses them off one at a time. I mean that’s what Bannon is like, and his first targets are going to be the Republican establishment. Speaker Ryan and Mitch McConnell,” Peters said Monday on MSNBC.
He added that Breitbart has successfully pushed back against the GOP establishment, but only time will tell if they can repeat those political victories.
“Whether or not Breitbart just becomes more of a noise making machine, in this cacophony of Republican infighting I don’t know. But in the past they have had some success in toppling leaders of the establishment. Eric Cantor being the best example of that. But they’ve also had a lot of swings and misses. It’s hard to say,” Peters concluded.
