Trump Election Commission Renews Request for States’ Voter Data

President Donald Trump’s election integrity commission is renewing efforts to collect voter information nationwide in the wake of a federal court ruling rejecting a bid to halt the project over privacy concerns.

Commission Vice Chairman Kris Kobach assured elections officials from the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia in a letter on Wednesday that the information would be kept “confidential and secure.”

“I want to assure you that the Commission will not publicly release any personally identifiable information regarding any individual voter or any group of voters from the voter registration records you submit,” Kobach wrote.
