With a GDP five times that of Canada and Mexico combined, the United States is the undisputed economic champion of North America. The U.S. is better off because of it, and her citizens flourish. In fact, America has 15,700,000 millionaires. That’s almost eight times more than our runner-up.
Apparently some Canadians are jealous of this fact, as they formed Party 51 in 1989. They promise “liberty, security, and prosperity” by becoming the 51st state of the United States. The party offers multiple reasons, not just economic, why life with their southern neighbor would be better.
Party 51 is based in Quebec, a province of Canada. In contrast to the rest of Canada, Quebec has a French heritage instead of British. The French language can still be seen on street signs and many of the residents speak it.
Because of this, Quebec has always maintained a level of cultural independence and is truly a one-of-a-kind Canadian provence.
