These Two Tweets From John Podesta Show The Democratic Schizophrenia

Share:

John Podesta, former chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, revealed the political left’s complicated opinion of former FBI Director James Comey.

Podesta tweeted Tuesday morning that the public was “getting mildly nauseous listening to Jim Comey,” only a few hours before President Donald Trump would fire him from the FBI.

Seven hours after his first post, Podesta tweeted directly at Trump—meaning the tweet would not appear to most of his Twitter followers, though it is publicly available—that he should “wait til Saturday night to massacre people investigating you.” The tweet alludes to when former Republican President Richard Nixon fired the Department of Justice’s special Watergate prosecutor Archibald Cox.

Podesta and other former Clinton operatives have long blamed Comey for not doing more to clear Clinton’s name during the election. Clinton herself said Comey’s public announcement of investigations contributed to her loss.

Comey sent a letter to Congress Oct. 28 declaring the FBI had discovered classified Clinton emails on the laptop of Anthony Weiner, the husband of Clinton aide Huma Abedin, contributed to her election loss.

“If the election had been on October 27, I would be your president,” Clinton said in a speech May 2.

The FBI issued a supplement Tuesday morning to Comey’s testimony before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary May 3, correcting that only two email chains discovered on Weiner’s laptop contained classified information.

“There are at least forces within the FBI that wanted [Clinton] to lose,” Podesta told Bloomberg News’ John Heilemann in February when asked about the FBI’s October surprise. “I’m not sure they really understood the alternative, but they wanted her to lose. I think that’s one possibility.”
