We’re a couple days out from electing our next president, and a couple months away from that person setting foot in the Oval Office, and yet, senior Republican lawmakers are already openly plotting to impeach Hillary Clinton if she wins.
The belief that Hillary Clinton has committed crimes that could land her in prison (of which there remains no evidence) is often spouted by the top of the GOP ticket. Donald Trump has frequently said his opponent belongs in jail, and his supporters chant “Lock her up!” at his rallies. Now, that sentiment is going from a piece of campaign rhetoric to a real plan of attack.
Last Friday, the FBI wrote in a letter to Congress that it was looking into a new set of emails, found on a device belonging to Clinton aide Huma Abedin (in an unrelated investigation into her estranged husband, Anthony Weiner). There’s still no evidence Clinton’s use of a private email server violated the law — she was formally cleared by the FBI in July — but that isn’t stopping the imaginations of her fiercest critics. – READ MORE
