The family of New York and New Jersey bomber, Ahmad Rahami, filed a federal lawsuit against “The City of Elizabeth” and the “Elizabeth Police Department” in April 2011 claiming they were victims of anti-Muslim harassment
The 38-page complaint alleges that, among other things, after their First American Fried Chicken restaurant opened in 2002, they became the victims of racial discrimination from the Elizabeth Police Department which attempted on multiple occasions to shut their restaurant down early despite an exemption allowing them to operate beyond 10pm.
