The prime minister of New Zealand mocked President Trump for his remark that she had “upset a lot of people” with her election win, saying that “no one had marched over my election.”

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told Sky News that she and Trump had briefly met during a dinner in Vietnam last week, and that Trump had commented on her recent win.

“He made a side comment that I had upset a lot of people,” she said. “I think it was in jest over the fact that it was perhaps a surprise win; I can’t be sure.”

Ardern said that she replied by noting that many were upset by Trump’s own election win.

“I pointed out that no one had marched over my election to office,” she said.
