If human rights laws get in the way of fighting terrorism, they will be changed, British Prime Minister Theresa May said Tuesday.

The British leader laid out several points on how she will combat terrorism while speaking at a campaign event. Her comments followed Saturday’s terrorist attack in London which left seven people dead and 48 others injured.

May argued for longer prison sentences for convicted terrorists, making it easier to deport suspects and restricting the freedom of movement of suspects who are known threats, but may not have enough evidence against them for a conviction.

“And if … our human rights laws stop us from doing it, we’ll change the laws so we can do it,” said May.

The Conservative party leader doubled down on her statements Tuesday afternoon, tweeting out a video clip and reiterating her position.

“I’m clear: if human rights laws get in the way of tackling extremism and terrorism, we will change those laws to keep British people safe,” said May.

British voters are poised to go to the polls Thursday for an early general election. Both the Conservative and Labour parties, the U.K.’s largest parties, suspended campaigning Monday in the wake of London terror attack. The Conservatives hold a four point lead over Labour, according to a recent poll.
