Donald Trump drew chants of “Lock her up!” Tuesday in North Carolina during a speech to veterans — who only 24 hours earlier had politely greeted Hillary Clinton.
The GOP presidential nominee fired up attendees of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Convention in Charlotte by going after his Democratic rival and decrying a “rigged” system that maintains entrenched power in Washington.
He bashed “Crooked Hillary” and sparked chants of “Lock her up!” reprising the war cry heard at last week’s Republican convention in Cleveland.
“You know her name, `Crooked Hillary Clinton,’ ” Trump said. “And believe me folks, she is crooked.”
The crowd’s reaction was a sharp turn from Clinton’s speech before the same audience on Monday, when she was cordially applauded for accusing Trump of being cozy with dictators.
Trump promised that, if elected in November, he’d create a “White House hotline” that vets could use to notify the administration about problems with the Veterans Administration.
The Manhattan real estate developer said he’d take responsibility – and even “pick up the phone personally” – for any problems at the VA if he becomes president.
“I will create a private White House hotline. This could keep me very busy at night folks,” he said. “This will take the place of Twitter.” – READ MORE
