Judicial Watch Sues Obama Administration To Get The Dirt On Internet Takeover by Eric Lieberman.

Judicial Watch sued the Obama administration Thursday over a Freedom of Information Act request regarding what influence the administration had in the government takeover of a portion of the internet.

The filing from the conservative watchdog group was specifically directed at the Federal Communications Commission, which oversees telecommunication protocol. The FCC is currently led by Chairman Ajit Pai who is currently in the process of undoing the regulations that Democrat predecessors implemented and what Judicial Watch generally wants to know more about.

Pai has been a commissioner for roughly five years, meaning that he was present during the introduction and execution of these internet rules. If the FOIA lawsuit is granted legitimacy, he may also be forced to give up communication or data pursuant to Judicial Watch’s investigation.

The organization cites a February report from The Wall Street Journal called “Net Neutrality: How White House Thwarted FCC Chief” in which the Obama administration allegedly conducted a “secretive effort” to sway the FCC decision making processes.

Judicial Watch also cites another records release as a reason for its most recent FOIA. Documents obtained from the FCC reportedly indicate “that agency officials had colluded with the leftist Free Press organization in its attempt to formulate and push through its net neutrality regulations.”

Judicial Watch says they are filing the lawsuit because the FCC failed to respond to two FOIA requests issued March 30 and April 4.

The FCC told The Daily Caller News Foundation that it does not comment on pending litigation.
