Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein said on the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks that she would not have ordered the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Stein told reporters in Iowa on Sunday that she would have instead captured bin Laden and brought him to trial in the United States, according to the Des Moines Register.
“I think assassinations … they’re against international law to start with and to that effect, I think I would not have assassinated Osama bin Laden,” Stein said.
Bin Laden, who founded al Qaeda and was deemed the mastermind behind the devastating 9/11 attacks, was shot and killed by U.S. special forces during a May 2011 raid in Pakistan. The terrorist attacks, which brought down the World Trade Center, damaged the Pentagon, and downed a passenger plane in rural Pennsylvania, killed nearly 3,000 people. – READ MORE
