You won’t find ex-FBI Director James Comey on Twitter under his birth name.
And you won’t find Comey — who is embroiled in numerous legal controversies stemming from his tenure in Washington D.C. — tweeting about politics or pending legal woes.
Comey appears to be channeling writer John Steinbeck, who trekked across the country with his dog and documented their adventures.
Except Comey does not appear to be traveling with a pet, though he is on the move.
Or perhaps Comey is working out issues with his inner Bruce Banner. Portrayed by Bill Bixby in the television series The Incredible Hulk, Banner roamed the country in search of self and inner harmony.
From New York to Iowa, Comey appears to be flirting with life as a would-be poet. A lonely poet standing in a corn field in Iowa for example.
Is Twitter’s newest philosopher pondering a presidential run in 2020 while standing in that cornfield? Or he making a larger, more profound statement about how time often stalks retired members of his field?

Comey is Tweeting from @FormerBu with the handle Reinhold Niebuhr.
Reinhold Niebuhr was an American theologian and commentator on politics and public affairs. He is credited with writing the Serenity Prayer.
